Last week we got the pleasure of seeing the advance screening of Amanda Lipitz’s STEP. I’m kind of a documentary nerd, so I was really looking forward to this movie and it surpassed all of my expectations. It was a hard hitting, eye-opening and inspiring story and I am currently obsessed with Lethal Ladies.

The main characters; Blessin, Cori and Tayla are a diverse group of young women who are putting everything into the hopes of bettering their future. Blessin, the founder of the step team, struggles with her family issues and not fitting in on the team, and puts all that she’s worked for in jeopardy. Tayla who was raised by her single mom (who is my FAVOURITE character in the movie) is sassy and Cori is quiet and determined to change her families circumstances the by getting into John Hopkins University.
Between financial troubles, family issues and tension between the teammates, it seems that things are stacked against the girl but the teachers and community at the Baltimore Leadership School for Girls push them through it.
