Calling all night owls: I understand how hard falling asleep can be. It’s exhausting to even think about (ironic, no?).

But sleep doesn’t have to feel like a chore. You can make it feel essential to your mental, emotional and physical wellbeing (even though all you want to do is stay up all night catching up on your fav show readings).

Since the world doesn’t always work around a night owl’s schedule, here are 4 tips that will help you get the best sleep of your life.

1. Avoid big meals at night

I know it’s hard, but try limiting big meals the later it gets in the evening. Pro tip: cut out spicy or acidic foods at night completely – they can trigger heartburn which will make it even harder to fall asleep.

2. Turn your brightness down within 1-2 hours of your bedtime

The light emitted from your computer, phone or tablet can reallyyyy disrupt your sleep. Do yourself (and your eyes) a favour by dimming the brightness up to 2 hours before you’re thinking of hitting the hay.

3. Switch up your pillows

When it comes to your sleep, comfort is key. It’s time to throw out your old pillows and find something that best suits your sleep style. You can literally choose pillows best for back sleepers, stomach sleepers, side sleepers, or anything in-between. Head into Sleep Country and use your SPC Card to get $10 off every $50 you spend. Not only will those pillows help you sleep at night, but so will saving that moula.

4. Try a sleeping app

Head into your iTunes App Store or Google Play store and search the sleep apps available to you. Some will track your sleep, act as a smart alarm, or even play ambient white noise to help you fall asleep ASAP (and in the most soothing way possible).

Your bound to have an amazing sleep if you try any (or all!) of these tips. Here’s to a great night and even better days 🙌
