When I heard I was going to an advanced screening of Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, I honestly couldn’t wait to go. My friends and I have been following this series, and all REALLY enjoyed Maze Runner when it came out a year ago.

I’m going to warn you, be aware that you’ll be sitting on the edge of your seat for basically the whole movie! But who doesn’t enjoy a fast-paced action-packed thriller? Okay fine, other than the Maze Runner series, personally I usually stick to romantic comedies or dramas. But there’s something about this franchise that I love, and that intrigues me to keep coming back!

The Scorch Trials continues with the group that was trapped in what seems like a post-apocalyptic mysterious maze on the run AGAIN after escaping the elaborate maze from the first movie. After finding out about what seems to be a secret plot WCKD is brewing, the Gladers begin their escape into the Scorch. Basically a desert filled with virus-infected Cranks, and obstacles beyond your imagination. Sure, no one knows who they can trust, but the group seems to clench onto Thomas, who turns out to be the leader of the teenagers. Out to find a group of resistance fighters who can help them battle against WCKD, the Gladers enlist help from a new ally that makes their adventure that much crazier, and unexpected.

What I also love about Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials is how attached you get to the characters. There won’t be any spoilers in this post, but there were a few times where I was actually shocked at how upset I was after certain scenes. I care for the characters and want to see them survive!

I will say, that a known challenge books that turn into movies have is creating the right adaptation to do the book justice. It’s always something that I’m worried about before seeing a movie that I read as a book first (and a book I really enjoyed). You don’t want the film to play it safe, and you have certain scenes from the book that you only HOPE made the cut.

Even though the movie’s plot DOES veer a little away from its source, it does it in a way where you as an audience appreciates it and it definitely does the book and story justice. I have to say, after seeing Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, there’s nothing I would change in the film adaptation (including a couple of surprises that all who read the book will enjoy!).

This movie moves FAST, but still leaves room to get to know the characters as much as you’d like to. Thriller is an understatement; I feel like I left the movie with my heart still beating extra fast! It’s been a while since I’ve seen a movie that has kept me on my toes like this one did… for the entirety of the film.

The Scorch Trials left me wanting MORE… I can’t wait for the third instalment! See Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials for yourself this weekend, and tweet me to let me know what you thought! #ReadyforScorch #ScorchTrials
