There’s nothing worse than 8AM class. Ok, there probably is, but at the moment this is the worst thing I can think of. Most nights I’ll end up going to bed around 2:30AM; assignments, class readings, or even just losing track of time on Tumblr results in me waking up 20 minutes before class and seriously questioning my life choices.

Waking up for 8AM class is a difficult task; trying to look ALIVE is a whole other ball game. Since the beginning of the school year the bags under my eyes have gone from a cute clutch to the battered up duffle bag you find in the gym locker room (not exactly pitch perfect). Basically, they need some TLC. To help you out, here are a few beauty tips and tricks that I’ve picked up throughout this semester:

The morning’s meant for spooning: I leave 2 metal spoons in the freezer overnight, and once morning comes I set them on my eyes for a couple minutes. Not only do they block out the haters, they’ll reduce puffiness and will help you feel more awake.

Conceal the deal: Brightening concealer = your best friend in the morning. Cover up those dark circles with a light concealer (try 3 shades lighter than your skin tone) that is made to brighten. Working with a darker complexion? Opt for an orange-toned concealer. It will instantly make you look more awake. Bonus: Apply concealer under your eyes in a triangle shape to lift the appearance of saggy under eye bags.

Star light, star bright: Make your skin look brighter with a hydrating BB Cream or tinted moisturizer. Anything that leaves a dewy finish will make your skin look fresh and hydrated. Not quite sure what a BB Cream is? SPC has a post on it here.

Take it back to Grade 8: Surprise! The nude and white eyeliner you’ve always questioned is actually useful. Lining your lower waterline with a white or nude will cover the pink/redness and make your eyes look brighter and wider (you can even use it to accentuate your cupid’s bow). Coat your lashes with a bit of mascara and you’re good to go.

Channel your inner JLO: Add a subtle glow to your skin with highlighter (we suggest Lightening Touch Universal Radiance from The Body Shop). Simply apply to the top of your cheekbones, brow bone, and the bridge of your nose; it will take a total of 30 seconds.

Look top knotch: So you’ve got that gorgeous face of yours done for the day and all that’s left is your hair. My go to options? A messy top knot, OR if I have a few extra minutes, I’ll tie my hair in a low bun and pull a little bit of hair out at the front. Loosely curl to add some umph!

Cheat: If you KNOW you don’t have time to wash your hair, use a dry shampoo before going to bed. It will absorb oil overnight resulting in clean looking hair when you wake up. If there is any excess oil, spritz your hair quickly in the morning before heading off to class.
