If you’re a part of human civilization, and haven’t been living under a rock for the past 15 years, you KNOW that any movie involving either Kevin Hart or Will Ferrell is BOUND to be hilarious. Combine BOTH comedic geniuses in one movie? And you GET HARD.
SPC had the pleasure of attending the advanced screening of Get Hard in Toronto last night – you don’t know how excited I was when I found out we were going! I’ve been wanting to see it for a while; Old School, and Kevin Hart “Laugh at my Pain,” are two of my all-time favourite movies! So naturally I was dying to see another feature film starring 2 of my go-to comedians.
If you haven’t already seen a teaser (which I suggest you do HERE), here’s a synopsis: Money-making James (played by funny-man Will Ferrell) finds himself in a compromising position (well, more like PUTS himself there. Not to self: committing fraud isn’t worth it). Having no IDEA of what it’s like behind bars, and assuming he’s been before, James enlists the help Darnell (Kevin Hart) to help him prepare for life behind bars. Yup – the whole deal; gang wars… and yes, becoming prison bait.
The funny thing about the duo? DARNELL is the straight-laced, small-business owner, whose biggest offense doesn’t even include a parking ticket (this was my favourite thing about the characters).
Okay… I’m going to stop there so I’m not at risk of giving TOO much away! If you’re not already planning to see this movie with the rest of the world this weekend, I suggest you make plans to PRONTO! There were actual points in the movie where I was reduced to tears. From laughter of course 😉 Not ONLY does it make you laugh histerically (and maybe snort… not saying I did… I heard someone else), it actually brings up some great societal/life questions that REALLY make you think: how many times have YOU judged someone before getting to know them, based on their appearance, just like James did with Darnell?
My rating: 4.5 stars out of 5! (Since I’m a movie buff, I’m REALLY hard on ratings and have never actually given a 5/5… so basically this is the highest score it can get in my books!). You KNOW I wouldn’t steer you wrong; go out, and Get Hard this weekend! Just like James, there’s a 100% chance of tears. Of laughter. Tweet me, and let me know what you think of it! @SPC_Card
